Direct General Insurance Corporation was founded in 1991 and currently has its headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
The company offers a wide range of insurance products to customers in 13 states. Direct General mainly serves clients in the southeastern United States through its 500 branches.
Aside from traditional auto insurance coverage, the company also offers a wide array of financial products and services like non-standard auto insurance, life insurance, vehicle protection, prepaid debit cards, and tax preparation services.
Most of its policies and services are offered through its subsidiary companies in the different states, including Direct General Insurance Company of Louisiana and Direct General Insurance Company of Mississippi.
At present, the company has some 2,400 employees and agents and it is estimated to have earned $500 million by 2007.
