shutterstock_66789601Consumers are well aware today that the cost of auto insurance in one part of the United States is not the same as the other. Residents of certain states pay premiums which are way above the national average while residents in a few other states pay way below the average. In fact, auto insurance companies are being so keen in evaluating the region in which you live that today rates vary not just across states, but also across various ZIP codes within a state or city.

Sacramento is one of the cities in California that stands proof to this fact. The place you reside in Sacramento can have a huge bearing on your auto insurance premiums. A study was conducted recently to not just calculate, but also analyze the difference in auto insurance premiums across various ZIP codes in Sacramento. The results of this study were reviewed after covering all the 27 ZIP codes in this capital city.

The results of the study have revealed that the person staying in the most expensive region in Sacramento would most likely pay close 16.6% more as compared to a person who uses a car of the same make and model, with the same security features, but resides in the different region in the city.

While 95817 was listed as the most expensive ZIP code at the end of this study, 95833 was listed as the least expensive. When this percentage was converted to numbers, it was found that a single driver staying in the 95817 area had to pay annual auto insurance premium which was roughly $200 more than the average premium that the person staying in 95833 had to pay to obtain insurance coverage.

In order to conduct this comparative study, a single driver profile was taken to generate a little over 270 quotes. The driver profile that was included in the study was that of a married 30 year old man driving a 2009 Honda Civic DX 4-door, with a neat driving record, driving 12,000 miles annually, carrying a collision and comprehensive insurance in addition to 15/30/10 liability insurance, with a deductible of $500 on it.

Many people in California are still not aware of the fact that the place where they stay has a huge impact on the auto insurance premium they will have to pay. Policy holders in the state believe that a clean driving history will get them low premiums. But, the insurance providers know that this is not enough. The ZIP code also has an important role to play.
