18State Farm one of the leading insurance companies has made moving a lot of fun. The first iPad application has been launched by the insurance company called MoveTools which is a free tool that helps people in planning and functions as a household assistant of inventories. Now, with one click of the finger, it is possible to build an entire to-do list and manage inventories and other stuff. In fact, customers can drag and drop items like blender and lamp into a box and print out labels for all the boxes, so that on the moving day you can find it a lot easier to manage your inventory. As soon as you land in your new place, the logo on the home screen will tell you about the nearest agent that you can approach.

This tool will work towards retaining customers and the Find an Agent functions as an essential feature that will keep customers from going away when they shift from one place to another. The moving app helps in not only providing something that will benefit the customer but will also serve a valid business purpose, which was the actual motivation behind designing this app. It is one of the high profile apps to emerge from the insurance company off late, even as the company move towards embracing the use of internet over the past few years.

One of the more popular apps launched by the company was the Pocket Agent which helped users to file a claim or manage their account from their smart phones. It has been downloaded an incredible 582,000 times. The relocation assistance app is the first of its type, but for State Farm, the apps idea itself is nothing new as they have been using various apps to help customers and in the process serve their business purpose. There are various other apps too that have been launched by companies in general to help customers. For example iTunes has recently received its 10 billionth download.

The MoveTools app was launched on Jan 11. It was released just ahead of the warm weather season which is when a lot of people start moving. Therefore the timing from the app’s perspective is absolutely perfect. The insurer in the past has launched a tool for Android smart phones which could auto reply to text message to ensure there isn’t distracted driving. The aim is to provide more options to the customers to retain them.
