06Despite the economic downturn, Progressive car insurance plans to hire 260 new workers in the sales, service and claims at its Cleveland and Mentor contact centers by January 2011. The company which started in 1937 is now the rated as one of the largest car insurers in the US and it has been voted as the best auto insurer by several groups and magazines. In addition, it has been named as one of the best places for employment in North Ohio. Progressive is also the first car insurer to provide a tool where consumers to inform the company how much they are willing to pay for their car insurance premiums. The Cleveland-based company now employs more than 25,000 people and is planning to add more. More than 200 jobs are available in the company’s Riverview Call Center in Tampa, Florida. The new call center employees are expected to answer customer queries, sell policies, and help customers on their concerns about file claims right after car accidents. Aside from Tampa, the company is also offering jobs in Cleveland, Austin and Colorado Springs.

According to Kay Krienke, the recruiting supervisor of Progressive, the company is need of energetic and customer-focused troubleshooting individuals as well as passionate workers because the company is growing. Krienke further adds that all positions in the company offer paid trainings and flexible work schedule options are also available in some available positions. The requirements include a minimum of two years education beyond high school or two years’ work experience in a customer service environment.
