Friends of Coal Auto Fair Sets off Today

11th edition of the annual popular FOC Auto fair commences today at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex. The venue is going to be the platform for exhibiting hundreds of classic cars owned by the members of FOC and many new automobiles for three days. The auto exhibition will be accompanied with carnival rides, vendor food, flea market sales and others. To stir up the energy, there will be concerts also. In many ways, the event directors have organized and promises fun for all age categories. Moreover the fair will be warmed, as it did in the previous years, with the fellowship between the members and guests.

The fair grounds at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex will be open from 10 am to 7 pm. The cost of entrance to the fairgrounds is $2. Children of age 6 and under accompanied with the paying adults are admitted free. As mentioned, this is the cost only for the entrance to the fairgrounds and tickets for the carnival and concerts have to be bought separately.

The first main event of the fair is the annual Classic Car Cruise which will begin at 6 pm, today, from the fairgrounds to Uptown Beckley. Many live entertainment segments and vendor booths are organized there for the guests. In the concert category, the Backtimers will perform at Jim Word Memorial Park and “American Idol” fame Jada Vance will perform on Main Street.

On Saturday the fairgrounds will be open from 8 am to 11 pm. The concert for the night will be led by Jake Owen and Kellie Pickler. The show will begin at 7 pm and the guests are allowed to enter the concert area from 6pm. Police will be there to assist and direct to the proper parking area along Grey Flats Road; parking is free of cost. Shuttle service is also available for the guests throughout the weekend.

The organizers of the auto fair have asked the attendees not to bring alcohol, drugs, weapons, fireworks, coolers, grills, glass containers, golf carts, pets, bicycles, scooter or ATVs. But they encourages attendees to bring commodities to make comfortable their participation such as sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat for shade, long-sleeve shirt or hoodie for the evening, blanket or folding chair for the concert, ear plugs, bug spray, camera, rain jacket and of course cash.
