Inspired from Fiat Ducato, conquering the commercial van market for more than 30 years, the Ram ProMaster 2014 features front wheel drive and unique specifications that are expected to make a huge impact in the segment. The exclusive design of ProMaster allows it to have 13 configurations, which incorporates 3 different wheelbases, 2 distinct roof heights, and 4 unique body lengths. Chrysler Ram ProMaster is scheduled to be introduced at the Chicago Auto Show today. The manufacturing process will be conducted in Saltillo, Mexico, and will be available for sale in North and South America this fall.

As reported by Chrysler officials, ProMaster comes with a larger cargo capacity, reduced load floor, lesser weight, and enhanced fuel efficiency, which earns it a competitive edge over others in the segment. It features huge sliding rear doors and side doors that can seamlessly open up to 260 degrees, enabling the Chrysler van to comfortably accommodate full-sized merchandize that can be laden with a forklift. The ‘master’ commercial van is available with dual-power engine options – a 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 from Chrysler or optional 3.0 liter inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. With a huge payload capacity of 5145 pounds, the ProMaster is expected to be a huge hit in the market.

With a 2-seat interior cabin, Ram ProMaster commercial van offers an enhanced version of the Uconnect Infotainment System, with advanced features like hands-free reply to text messages, 5-inch screen, park assist, rear backup camera, and unlimited Wi-Fi connectivity via Sprint cellular network. With incredible exterior design, plush interiors, and enhanced performance, ProMaster is expected to efficiently cope with stiff competition in the commercial van segment.

Earlier, Chrysler never had a full-sized high-performance commercial van ever since they stopped manufacturing in this segment. This huge gap of three years has posed a stiff competition for Ram, targeting of customers who are seeking a one-stop shop to buy a wide variety of commercial vehicles, remarked Bob Hegbloom, Director, Ram brand. However, with world class features, superior performance and enhanced payload capacity, the company expect the small front wheel drive commercial van to do good in 2014.

Prices for Chrysler Ram ProMaster are not yet released.
