    In Ontario, drivers are called to fight back the recent change in their insurance system which allegedly decreased their accident benefits. This change was apparently approved by the government. Consumer advocates say that this is does not benefit the consumers and in fact is an action to their detriment. The $100,000 dollars in benefits will only become 35,000 after Sept. 1, 2010 deadline.     Survey Shows Decrease in Insurer Satisfaction Ratings

    Insurance policy holders were seen to be increasingly conscious of their respective insurance companies according to The Pantagraph. This is according to a recent survey conducted early in 2010. The survey included 25,000 policyholders which produced a shift in the J.D. Power and associates’ 2010 insurer satisfaction rankings. They have found that the overall satisfaction of policyholders have plummeted by 10 points in 2010. The decrease in 10 points from 2009 resulted in a 777 out of a 1,000-point scale system.     Auto insurance company Allstate launched the second annual “Quotes for Education” program last August 17, collaborating with United Negro College Fund to raise $100, 000 in scholarship funds to financially assist African-American students. This is to allay the problem that over 2/3 of African-American students who, according to statistics, drop out of college due to financial problems.     Despite the number of drivers in the Washington area who text message while they are driving have increased, a majority of them support the new no-texting law, according to a recent poll made in the area. The PEMCO Insurance poll showed that over 83% of drivers who had been surveyed are in favour of the new law, or even opt that the fine of being caught text messaging while driving should increase.
