How to Get Cheap Insurance Quotes for Young Drivers

Would you believe if I told you that cheap insurance quotes for teen drivers are still very much alive these days?

First, we need to define what a cheap insurance is and what is not. The term cheap is relative to the driver. For some, spending $150 a month on their car insurance is a pocket change while others struggle to come up even one third of it.

Insurers rely on a table to compute how risky a driver is. They call it the actuarial tables, and it is made up of some complex algebraic equations use to determine insurance rate.  While we could not do anything about the high insurance rates associated for being a teenage male driver, we however could find ways to minimize it a bit, for the very least.

Professional Training

Professional driver’s training is supposedly a part of our public school training system. However, due to the recent budget cutbacks, this may not be true as once believed.  Because of this, American driver’s education has degraded significantly, and most students who go to public schools will have to pay substantial fees just to participate. You will be paying anyway, so why not consider looking for a private driving school instead.

Insurance companies liked the idea that they are insuring student drivers who have undergone professional training. Part of the training should focus on how to handle and react properly on certain emergencies. It is worth noting that not all professional driving schools will be able to teach this to their students.  Again, if you are sending your child to a training center, be sure to ask this in advance because most insurers will likely grant discounted rates for being exposed in this training.

The Law

Observing traffic laws is probably the most important thing for a teen driver to remember when driving. Being a teen driver means being reckless (as far as car insurance companies are concerned). No matter how obedient your child is to you, insurers will always look at him this way.  This means even a minor infraction or moving violation on the road could already mean a billowing insurance rate for the young driver.

Part of the responsibility for being a parent is to teach your child how to become a responsible driver. There are even those who are not afraid to take away the keys of the car when their child commits a violation such as speeding. It is also important for the teen driver to know that driving is not a right but a privilege.

Maintaining Good Grades

You probably heard this many times that those students who maintain good grades could expect better insurance rates. This will serve as a motivator for your child to improve his grades while making your life easier (as a parent) in finding for low cost teen car insurance

Choosing the Right Vehicle

Another great saving tip is to find a car that is not expensive to insure. For instance, you can choose between a station wagon or four-sedan car. Just make sure though that all the safety features are still intact, such as airbags and sensors. It is normal for young drivers to ask for sports cars or SUV’s but do not give in. These cars are very expensive to buy and to ensure as well. Also, most sports car drivers tend to drive faster and will likely to cause collision accidents.
