Online Car Insurance: Do You Still Need The Conventional Way?

The Internet has truly revolutionized the way we deal with so many things from ordering pizza to buying auto insurance policies. Considering that there is a very little difference between the online and offline world, do you honestly think that a physical office is still important, to be considered as an ideal?

Online Auto Insurance Providers

For those who are adept using the Internet, spending time to look for reliable online insurance providers is worth their time for good reasons.  First, since online insurance providers don’t have to rent space or employ people, their rates are relatively cheaper.  It operates 24/7, which is pretty convenient, especially for nocturnal people. In most cases, many of them offer 24/7 support service, another convincing factor. It’s also possible to manage existing insurance policies, adding or removing features, with just a click of a button. Apart from that, these sites offer up-to-date information about the insurance world, so you know what’s going on around you. The ability to find available discounts is extremely easy.  You can also use some online tools that provide you with better estimates, in case you want to change, this or that without affecting your current policy.

Since you are interacting with the insurer’s computer servers rather than the usual insurance agent, you can do this, even if it’s 2 am in the morning. Add weekends, and after office hours, which are convenient because there are no agents working those times.

In the past, it was not easy (and instant) if you wanted to know what discounts you would be qualified for, the options available or understanding your coverage requirements. To make it worse, if you wanted to know something, which the agent isn’t knowledgeable about, it could mean days of waiting while he/she goes back to the office to research your needs. This means all existing insurance quotes will need to be recomputed, adding more to the waiting time. All these and more are limited and painfully slow – not even worth your time. With fewer policies presented, limited horizon and higher insurance rates – we have had enough already.

On the other hand, before the advent of the Internet, we’ve been using local insurance agents for all our insurance needs, not only auto insurances. It’s the best structure that had worked for many years until the arrival of automation.

Having said that, it doesn’t mean that everything you see on the Internet is easy to understand. Some people just find it rather difficult to decide without talking to a person. Your insurance agent provides you with that personalized customer service that their online counterparts are missing.

In fact, it is sometimes better to ask your agent if you have concerns rather than spending hours looking for answers online.

Undeniably, it feels so much better to receive a verbal explanation and that the conversation could go on forever.  It’s also possible that your local insurance agent can work at your account to receive more discounts that were otherwise unavailable if you purchase online.
